The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, the National Bank of Austria and the European Investment Bank organized the international conference “Access to Finance, Bank Lending and Banking Sectors in Central, Eastern and Southeastern European Countries”. This conference addressed important topics on the importance of the banking sector activity in the Central and Southeastern European region, as an important pillar of financing economic development in these countries. Numerous experts in this field participated in this conference, as experts from the country’s central bank, central banks in the region and beyond, local and international financial institutions and commercial banks. Part of the panel was also the Chief Executive Officer of Banka Ekonomike, Ms. Merita Gjyshinca Peja, who, among other things, emphasized Banka Ekonomike’s commitment as a local bank to the economic and social development of the country, the advantages and challenges of operating in a market where over 80% of the market is dominated by international banks.
